Healing Through Faith: The Role of Spiritual Healers in Providing Psychosocial Support to Canadian Muslims

Studies have documented on the role of religious leaders in providing psychosocial support to their members. However, there is a dearth research understanding imams play among Muslim communities Canadian context. The few studies that were undertaken Europe and United States revealed played significant addressing needs congregants, this increased post-9/11 era.This study explored experiences provision Canadians, including new immigrants refugees. We conducted in-depth, one-on-one interviews with faith major metropolitan city. data was transcribed thematically analyzed using NVIVO. spiritual healing considered first line care for illness, are primary network. findings war-related traumas post-resettlement challenges impact family functions well-being.This highlighted need culturally appropriate services It also calls better collaboration between service agencies faith-based organizations address these specific needs.
